A Champagne fully deserving of every drop of praise it receives, Taittinger’s Comtes De Champagne Blanc De Blancs is one of the finest examples of Champagne available today.
As one of the few remaining independent champagne houses in Reims, Taittinger is uniquely placed to exercise total control over its production processes. It uses this control to remain faithful to the methods that made its wines world famous.
The chardonnay grapes for the Comtes De Champagne Blanc De Blancs are painstakingly sourced from 6 Grand Cru sites in the Côte de Blancs. Centuries-old techniques are then employed to meticulously create an aromatic, rich and surprisingly creamy champagne that is globally adored and respected in equal measure.
Waxy lemon leaf notes dominate the nose, but a hint of biscuit can be sensed in the background. The palate starts as citrus-laden, but soon swells into smooth notes of white chocolate and cream. Elegant, complex and elongated, the pleasure lingers longer than many dare hope.
A vintage that will only get better with age, the 2006 is only just coming into its own. With memories of the incredible 2004 vintage fresh and vivid in the minds of Tattinger tragics, it’s not too bold to say that 2006 has every opportunity to overtake its illustrious predecessor in time.
