Heathcote Estate Grenache Noir 2012

Grape Variety: Grenache
The fruit for this wine comes from a small block of Grenache on the family vineyard, planted on the famous strip of 500 million year old Cambrian soil.  The resulting wine shows lovely plush fruit, perfume and wonderful spice - characteristic of the Heathcote region.  Handpicked and de-stemmed whole berries were fermented in a closed fermenter. The Grenache underwent an extended maceration – 29 days on skins before being pressed to barriques (older oak used) for malolactic fermentation and maturation. It remained in barrel for 8 months until it was bottled in December 2012.
