Grape Variety: Chardonnay

The Bay of Fires wines were born of a desire to showcase the best possible cool climate varietal wines Tasmania can offer, combining fruit intensity, refinement and persistence of flavour. The 2013 Chardonnay represents the continued evolution of this wine as we explore and develop vineyard resources. Their philosophy is to nurture elegance and develop ripe flavour profiles.

The fruit for this Chardonnay was hand harvested from the East Coast and Coal River Valley regions of Tasmania. Lifted aromas of white peach and preserved lemon precede a richly textured, layered palate balancing vibrant fruit, natural yeast and French oak.

"Bright, gleaming straw-green; dazzlingly fresh and vibrant, but adroitly avoids the confronting acidity that can unbalance otherwise exemplary Tasmanian white wines; peach and grapefruit are balanced by subtle creamy cashew nuances ex barrel fermentation of cloudy juice; overall, an exercise in elegance." - Rated 96 points, James Halliday
